Seems to me that our progress and success depend on:
Our focus, certainly. Hard work, smart work, noble efforts.
Our relationships, surprisingly. If we have a true partner in life, someone with whom we share the task of working towards our common goals (thanks Michelle!), our efforts are magnified exponentially. If we spend all our biological energy in tension with someone who is dragging us down, holding us back- all of our hopes and dreams can be dashed in no time. And it's so hard to crawl back, and we never regain that lost time... (It's 11:59)
So if we focus on someone who is poison for us, we'll not find success, we'll make no progress. What if we fire everyone like that and focus on ourself?
Better, but recently I've become convinced that if we focus exclusively on ourself, we will be limited. Self-absorption holds us back. I am convinced that our best success comes from focusing outwards, on others. On our Village.
Practicing, learning, working hard, striving for excellence, yes. But not with only our own self-interest as the goal.
For the Village.
