In my novel, The Man Who Wore Mismatched Socks, the 1940 chapter is based on my highly detailed research on the Battle of Britain--research that I've essentially been doing since I was 13 years old.
I do have a few personal ties to the Battle. One is that I know Noel Agazarian's sister, Yvonne Agazarian, Ed.D. Noel was a Spitfire pilot in the Battle and was KIA over North Africa in 1941.
Dr. Agazarian is sent me this copy of a sketch of her brother, rendered by Cuthbert Orde.
I'm quite overwhelmed to have this remarkable image, and through such a personal source.
As I say in the preamble to the book,
"Dedicated to The Few.
Whoever we are, wherever we hail from—You saved us all."
