Thank you so much, Joel, and for all your comments here. Richard Smith, besides being my first and middle names, was the full name of my childhood dentist. He was a brilliant, kind, and engaging man who was taken from us far too early by a heart attack. He flew P-47's in the war- more on that in other parts of the novel- and went to Penn Dental on the GI bill, at least part of it. I wanted to include him here in my story, in fictional form of course, and he figures in another part that I shall post here in time.

Thanks again for being a fan and a megaphone for this project!
