Rick, simply jumping on the pegs (and they aren't mumblety-pegs) of the clause: "It stands to reason, then, that on the teetering three-legged barstool of risk factors for periodontitis,..." was a stimulating exercise in syllabification.

I'm gum-conscious now, and have been for a while, having had a section of gingiva (thanks for loaning me the term) plucked from one point and added to another years ago, while the doctor and nurse went through what to my anesthetized mind seemed to be a comedy routine. But that's another story.

But I'm more inclined to toothsticks than Soft Pics, though mileage, I'm sure, varies....
